Assetto Corsa EVO VR Update Review: A Smoother Racing Experience (2026)

Assetto Corsa EVO's VR update is a significant step forward, but it still has room for improvement. The game's developers, Kunos, have introduced a foveated rendering option that enhances the VR experience by optimizing the clarity of the surrounding image while maintaining the fidelity of the area players focus on. This has resulted in improved frame rates and stability, which is a welcome change from the initial public build in January 2025. The new pixel density option offers greater resolution tunability, allowing players to balance performance and visual quality. However, the VR graphics settings are now distinct from the in-game graphics settings, which can be confusing. The in-headset experience is smoother, but there are still usability issues, such as the lack of clear labeling for important functions like centering the view. The game also struggled with my Pimax Crystal Light headset, highlighting the need for further optimization. Despite these issues, the update is a marked improvement, and the addition of the Kyalami circuit and new cars is a welcome bonus. The latest update releases today, July 9th, on PC via early access, and it's a step in the right direction for Assetto Corsa EVO's VR experience.
